Our faculty member Associate Professor Susana Martinez Guillem and a Doctoral Candidate Ivana Cvetkovic co-authored a chapter on migration discourse and rhetoric in the Routledge Handbook of the Politics of Migration in Europe.

Doctoral student Ivana Cvetkovic published her first lead article in the Journal of Communication Inquiry. The article titled “Multimodal discursivity: Framing EU borders in liveblogs,” co-authored with Dr. Mirjana Pantic (Pace University), contributes to theoretical and methodological developments by integrating multimodal and framing analysis to explore how multimodal discourse in the live-blog format can transform breaking news reporting.

Our doctoral students Ivana Cvetkovic and Kimm Oostman combined their professional experiences and interests in gendered representations of women and critically examined the representations of female journalists in two television shows - House of Cards and The Following. Their study “Sexualization of the journalism profession: TV representation of women journalists’ intellect, labour and bodies” is published in the Journal of Media, Communication and Film.
