Mariko Thomas comes most recently from Oregon most recently, but grew up moving around internationally. She earned her B.A. in human communication at Southern Oregon University and her M.S. in communication at Portland State University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. with an emphasis in intercultural communication. Mariko's research interests include multiracial identity, storytelling and narratives, intercultural conflict, and social activism. While she is at UNM she hopes to delve more into working with intersections of environment, culture, and identity, as well as issues of underrepresented voices in environmental discourse.
