Yvonne Emiliana Gandert is an Albuquerque, New Mexico native pursuing a Master's degree in Communication, with concentrations in Intercultural and Mass Communication. In fall 2014, Yvonne graduated from the University of New Mexico, with dual degrees in Strategic Communication and Studio Art. Her research interests focus on the study political satire, its prevalence in the media, and influence on social discourse, and public policy. Some of her undergraduate research centered on political satirists and their attacks on autocratic figures of power and unyielding social institutions.
Since 2012, she has been employed as a Marketing & Editorial Assistant at the Mentoring Institute at UNM. Her primary role is to facilitate marketing and communications for the annual Mentoring Conference, a 4-day conference centered on mentoring best practices in higher education.
In her free time, Yvonne likes to create art and illustrations, discover new music, attend concerts, and play volleyball. Yvonne will graduate with her MA in Communication in Spring of 2017.
