Coordinator, Graduate Programs

Born in the Philippines and raised in Southern New Jersey, Hazel has lived and raised a family of her own in cities across the country. With four children in tow, Hazel enjoyed making memories in places like Chicago and Philadelphia, but nothing compared to the beauty and people she found in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a place she now calls home. Hazel is a proud UNM alum with a BS in Nutrition/Dietetics which she received in 1996. Since 2014, she’s had the pleasure of working with the UNM Department of History and the Health Sciences Center Office of University Counsel’s administrative staff and provided additional support to the Africana Studies Program and the New Mexico Historical Review. Hazel is also trained in event planning and graphic design and is looking forward to sharing her administrative expertise as a program coordinator with Communication & Journalism. What she is most excited about is getting to know the rest of the Communication and Journalism team, connecting with the students and supporting them as they explore, refine, and define their journey at C&J.
