Maegan Carberry

Maegan Carberry is a leader in media, politics, activism, and the arts. During their 15 years as a political commentator Maegan was a reporter for The Chicago Tribune, Arianna Huffington's Chief of Staff, Co-Host of Variety's "Wilshire & Washington" podcast, Communications Director of Rock the Vote, Founding Curator of Upworthy, an analyst for Neil Cavuto's shows on FOX Business News and CNN's OutFront Strike Team, and an instructor at USC. Maegan has worked on issues like voting rights, climate change, supporting veterans, prison reform, mental health at work, and sexual violence; since 2014 they've run an art therapy non-profit called birdbrain that provides education and self-help tools to people impacted by sexual trauma. Maegan received their bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA in 2002, and their master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern in 2003. As a PhD student, Maegan’s research interests include media studies and political communication. Their research focuses on how activists will leverage artificial intelligence.
