Mina Sayadi is a second-year Ph.D. student. She has earned her BA in Theater Studies and MA in Communication science. She also worked as a freelance youth and kids’ journalist in Iran for over ten years. Human communication has always played an essential role in her life since she was a playwriter actress.
After her BA, she started working as a content manager of a Digital Health start-up, and that was the starting point of getting familiar with health communication. She became so interested in this field that she changed her major to a master's degree. In her master's thesis, she investigated how to use social media to improve fitness among the company's app users and Instagram followers. She conducted a data-driven social media/in-app campaign using them as a focus group. The campaign resulted in an 85% success rate in weight reduction among over 300 participants on the Instagram page and in-app.
Mina is currently exploring various fields in her Ph.D. journey, including health communication, information seeking, AI, technology and behavior, social media use, and immigrants' health behaviors and identity. She is particularly interested in using technology to improve the health and well-being of immigrants.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Mina is also passionate about singing. She sings and covers music in her free time and posts it on her Instagram page (minasayadi_). She is also an active member of the UNM choir.
