Our term teacher Gwyneth Doland, who, in addition to teaching for C&J and working as successful freelance journalists, is also a student in the Master of Fine Arts program in UNM's department of English, was awarded this year's Hillerman-McGarrity Endowed Scholarship in Creative Writing! The award comes with a $2,500 prize, the largest given to creative writers.

Named in honor of Tony Hillerman (a former C&J professor himself) and Michael McGarrity, two of New Mexico's most renowned and respected mystery writers, the fund supports scholarships enrolled in the Creative Writing Program with a demonstrated talent and passion for fiction, screenwriting, playwriting, or creative non-fiction (which is Gwyneth's concentration).

Congratulations, Gwyneth!
