Emerson “Kai” (he/him, they/them) earned their BA in Communication at UNM in 2017 before receiving their MA in Communication from Saint Louis University in 2020. He is interested in LGBTQIA studies and particularly in transgender communication; anything in and about the trans community. Emerson’s research has looked at trans/gender representation in science fiction, authoethnographic research with transgender identity-making, and the communication between parents and trans adult-children regarding medical decision-making in transitions.  

Besides talking about gender, Kai enjoys reading books, watching TV and movies, and playing DnD.
