Internship Program Guide

APPLYING FOR THE INTERNSHIP & COURSE CREDIT

C&J students seeking course credit for internships should follow these guidelines.

  1. Check Your Eligibility: You must have accrued a minimum of 9 credits in C&J courses, with at least one 300-level course. You must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Eligibility can be confirmed with the C&J Academic Coordinator Annie Klang at aklang@unm.edu
  2. Apply for an Internship: Search our internship postings (bulletin board, Facebook, and email listserv). Review the notices carefully and apply with the employer directly, according to their application procedures. This typically requires a cover letter and resume, which may be followed by an invitation to be interviewed for the position.
  3. Submit a Signed Agreement: When you are selected by the employer, you and the employer need to complete an Internship Agreement and submit the completed agreement to the C&J Academic Coordinator Annie Klang at aklang@unm.edu
  4. Register for CJ-492. Upon reviewing your eligibility and confirming you have a completed agreement, the Academic Coordinator will authorize your faculty sponsor to open the course (called a “course override”), allowing you to enroll in CJ-492. When you register, please remember to indicate if you are enrolling for 3, 2, or 1 credit(s). Note: CJ-492 is a "credit" / "no credit" course; meaning, a standard grade (A-F) will not be issued.
